How does the Aggie Recruitment Committee select students to participate in Whoopin' Weekend 2009?
Whoopin’ Weekend 2009 Selection Process:
Whoopin’ Weekend is a conference planned by the Aggie Recruitment Committee for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors interested in experiencing college life at Texas A&M University. While we wish we could allow everyone who wants to participate in Whoopin’ Weekend to do so, we simply, do not have the resources and facilities to do so. Thus, participation in Whoopin’ Weekend is limited to 275 students to campus. In order to provide the fairest selection process to all interested parties the Aggie Recruitment Committee will be implementing the following selection process for Whoopin’ Weekend 2009:
On Tuesday, January 6th, 2009, at 10:00am Central Time, registration will open and remain open for 48 hours. The selection process will be conducted on a first come first serve basis based upon the student’s grade level (sophomore, junior, senior). The Aggie Recruitment Committee’s goal is to have 20% sophomores, 55% juniors, and 25% seniors attend Whoopin’ Weekend 2009. If that enrollment goal is not met any remaining spots will be filled regardless of grade level, based on timestamp of when the student’s registration form was submitted. After the conference has been filled remaining students (up to100) will be placed on a waitlist to fill spots that may become available between the close of registration and the week of the conference.
Notification of registration status will be sent out, by e-mail, on January 12, 2009.
The Aggie Recruitment Committee has deemed this selection process to be the most fair and equitable way to fill these limited spaces. Please contact Megan Tracy or Manica Serna with any questions you might have. Thank you for your interest and your understanding.
Thanks and Gig ‘Em,
Megan Tracy, Manica Serna, and Margaret Mitchell
